BMW produced the R69 motorcycle from 1955-1969. Over 15 years, 15,347 were built for both European and US markets. These were designed as high-power sport bikes even though side-car lugs were standard with the Earles suspension. US models with telescopic forks did not include these lugs.

This 1959 BMW R69 is powered by a 594cc horizontally opposed, twin-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed transmission attached to an enclosed driveshaft. The motor was factory rated at 35 horsepower and is equipped with Bing carburetors. A kick-starter cranks the motor over easily, the engine runs well, and the transmission shifts properly through all the gears. The chrome exhaust system, with crossover pipe and torpedo-style mufflers, looks great and creates a great sound.

Suspension is handled up front by an Earles leading-link fork and a rear swingarm with shrouded hydraulic shocks. A friction-plate steering-damper adds to the stability of the bike. An adjustment knob for the damper is located between the handlebar risers. The bike rides on 18" chrome rims that are laced to a duplex drum up front, and a simplex drum at the rear.

The bike is finished in black with white accents and features a black solo saddle with white piping. A locking storage compartment is located behind the left rubber knee grip of the fuel tank. Additional equipment includes a hinged rear fender, fixed passenger foot pegs, and both center and side stands.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph VDO speedometer mounted atop the headlight bucket. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles.

This 1959 BMW R69 is offered in Washington with a clean Oregon title.
