1950 Chevrolet DeLuxe Sport Coupe
VIN: 98 236192 (WA Assigned) – K 1350 (Body No.)
Odometer: 00757 (new gauge cluster)
Engine: 350ci V8 (Buick)
Trans.: 4-spd Overdrive Auto (GM TH700-R4)
This is NOT your father’s or grandfather’s old Chevy… This is a very modern take on an old classic.
There has been over $100,000 invested in the 4-year restoration of this 1950 Chevy DeLuxe, and it shows. Starting with the body, it was placed into a rotisserie, stripped clean, and sand blasted. Any questionable metal was replaced and there is no rust or Bondo anywhere. Atop that quality metalwork is a gorgeous black paint job with subtle “flame-work” that doesn’t get noticed until the “Oh my!” moment of realization. The paint job was done by a local specialty painter who normally handles only corvettes. As a topper, the custom bumpers have been squeezed to fit the body.
The interior is just as flawless in its grey leather upholstery with charcoal and chrome surroundings. The fit and finish was done to a high level of exacting standards. But the interior doesn’t stop there and has an “Oh my!” moment of its own when the custom Dakota Digital instrument cluster is seen. While the gauges appear old-school analog, they are fully digital behind the panel and the LED warning indicators highlight that fact. However, the conversation piece of the interior will be the shift lever knob… It will throw most people off at first and needs to be experienced to appreciate.
Under the hood, the engine was replaced with a 350 Buick V8 engine, which was saved after the family’s beloved original Buick was totaled. Some might question this decision, but the engine shines in this application. The engine breathes through a custom air cleaner that pulls in cold air from behind the grill. Cooling of the engine is handled by a 3-row aluminum radiator with an electric fan. Power from the engine is directed through a rebuilt TH700-R4, 4-spd automatic transmission. Needless to say, the drivetrain is solid.
More mods have been designed into the restoration including power-assisted dual brake system with front disk brakes, rack and pinion steering, power windows and updated air-conditioning. The sale includes lots of paperwork from the restoration.
Owner Notes:
The radio is aftermarket vintage that has special operating instructions: Radio defaults to AM… Turn OFF and back ON to select FM.
There is a “Battery Shut-off” switch located in the trunk. Must be ON to start.
